Although Rick Collins was born in the United States, he has spent more than 40 years living, traveling and photographing abroad. His love of wildlife photography and travel adventure, combined with his attraction to foreign cultures and odd jobs in strange places, have taken him to the far-flung corners of the world.
The photos in this portfolio represent Rick’s travel journal and reflect a deep affection and appreciation for the various subject matter at hand. It is a natural progression that, under the banner of SPOTLIGHT PHOTO SAFARIS, he would choose to share his trips and photo knowledge with like-minded photographers in the form of small group photo adventures.
Rick has been working the last eight summer seasons in remote Alaska as a photographer and professional grizzly bear guide for fellow photographers. He continues to hold a popular grizzly photo workshop annually in Lake Clark National Park, Alaska. During the northern winters, Rick leads multiple small group photo safaris and workshops in Africa designed for all levels of photography skills. He is expanding SPOTLIGHT PHOTO SAFARIS to include three of his all-time favorite destinations: India (tigers and culture), Indonesia (Orangutans, Komodo Dragons and landscape) and Cuba (a bygone era).
Rick’s work has been published in wildlife and travel magazines in the U.S., England and Australia. He currently holds dural citizenship with Australia.
